North Star Can Do! Workshops:
Workshop Content
During her classroom workshops, Maribeth uses discussion, story telling, question and answer opportunities, brainstorming, problem solving, handouts, and activities to create an understanding and appreciation of individual differences and the many abilities we ALL have. Students learn how they can utilize their own abilities to reach their goals, their dreams, and their true potential.
Classroom workshops cover the following:
Creating Positive perspectives: Changing "can't" to "can" through cooperative learning, creative thinking, and problem solving;
Celebrating individual differences through The North Star: Peter H. Reynolds' book is used as a catalyst for workshop discussions and hands-on activities about individual strengths, capabilities, dreams, and ways of living life;
Ability appreciation: recognizing our personal abilities and how we can use them to overcome our challenges and reach our goals.
The "Ability" in Disability: Maribeth discusses her own respiratory disability, the challenges she deals with, and the many things she CAN do.
