Presented by Maribeth Bush, The North Star Can Do! Workshops encourage students to fulfill their true potential regardless of the obstacles that lay in their path. Through ability awareness and the allegory in Peter Reynolds' book The North Star, the workshops showcase students’ strengths in the face of potentially conflicting messages about capabilities and self-worth.
Students participating in the workshops develop pride in who they are as individuals, and they learn to appreciate diversity and the life challenges faced by those around them. Students also discover for themselves that if they focus on what they CAN do, then "anything is possible".
